Abstract:
This crown-shaped retainer for a ball bearing comprises an annular main part, a plurality of pillars protruding axially from the main part at predetermined intervals in the circumferential direction, and spherical pockets having spherical recessed surfaces that are formed between adjacent pillars and that can hold balls. The pillars each have a pair of hooks of which the tip ends are disposed an interval apart from each other, and a connecting part that connects the pair of hooks. An entrance having a width shorter than the diameter of the balls and for inserting the balls is provided between the tips of the two adjacent hooks constituting a pocket. The distance from the outer peripheral surface of a pocket to the center of the crown-shaped retainer for a ball bearing is greater than the distance from the outer peripheral surface of a pillar to the center.
