Abstract:
Provided is a crystal fiber manufacturing method with which it is possible to suppress the occurrence of stress birefringence, while making the light emission center distributed in a concentrated manner at the cross-sectional center. The crystal fiber manufacturing method is provided with: a step of forming a molten portion by using a crystal fiber including a light emission center that vaporizes from a molten portion when crystals are melted as a base material, and heating one or a plurality of portions of a side surface of the base material, thereby melting one or a plurality of portions of the base material in such a way that a certain amount of the base material on the inside of the one or a plurality of portions is not melted; and a step of forming a re-crystalized region by causing the molten portion to be moved successively in a longitudinal direction of the base material and cooling the molten portion, thereby re-crystallizing the molten portion continuously.
