Abstract:
To provide a crystal grain refining agent containing heterogeneous seed particles having a degree of nonconformity δ that is smaller than in the past with respect to pure Al or Al alloy, as well as a method for producing the same. [Solution] A crystal grain refining agent that contains heterogeneous seed crystals having a small degree of conformity not present in the original equilibrium is produced by sintering in a short time at a low temperature by discharge plasma sintering. For example, a crystal grain refining agent is obtained by dispersing L12 structure Al5CuTi2 intermetallic compound particles in a parent phase Al. By adding this crystal grain refining agent to the melt, it is possible to obtain a refined and uniform texture of a pure Al or Al alloy casting material.
