Abstract:
The subject invention pertains to a system for the electrochemical conversion of nitrate to ammonia. The electrolysis is carried out using a cell with a working electrode having a CuDATA molecular catalyst absorbed on carbon black. The system is effective for the conversion of waste nitrate solutions to ammonia. The conversion occurs with a high faraday efficiency of about 98%.
