Abstract:
The present invention ascertains a current position as quickly as possible and corrects current position information, even when a railway vehicle loses the current position during travel for some reason. This method corrects the current position information for the railway vehicle, when the traveling railway vehicle has failed to receive distance information from a ground unit and cannot correct current position information. After failing to receive the distance information, the interval between each ground unit is calculated on the basis of distance information sent by an initially recognized ground unit 2a and an appropriate number of ground units 2b … subsequently recognized after ground unit 2a. The calculated interval between each ground unit is compared to the interval between each ground unit in a database for the travel route being traveled. If a location can be identified that matches both compared intervals, the current position information is corrected using the identified position as the current position of the railway vehicle.
