Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a curtain air bag device for a vehicle which is capable of accurately ensuring passenger protective performance even if a passenger is in an un-normalized position, appropriately incorporating a function for preventing the passenger from being thrown out from the vehicle and a passenger protective function for a side crash, and satisfying all these three passenger protective performance levels. [Solution] An air bag body (2) includes main chambers (14, 15) that are formed in air bag space surrounded with a ringed seam (S), wherein the main chambers are surrounded with guide seams (13) that are formed in an L-shape by upper horizontal guide seam sections (13a) and vertical guide seam sections (13b) and partitioned on the inside thereof; and wherein laterally directed gas ducts (18) are formed above the upper horizontal guide seam sections, and a vertically directed chamber (21) is formed between the vertical guide seam sections that face each other. Each of the main chambers is developed and inflated with a gas stream filled as a result of flowing in from the laterally directed gas ducts and the vertically directed chamber obliquely downward in the front/rear of the vehicle.
