The present invention provides a curved-surface optical element having an undevelopable curved surface shape as a whole by using a plurality of monocrystalline substrates. On the top face of a single monocrystalline substrate 1, a plurality of predetermined segments are defined at predetermined intervals. In each of the predetermined segments, a predetermined optical structure 2 is formed (b). A first substrate 3 is joined (d) to the bottom face of the single monocrystalline substrate 1 having the predetermined optical structures 2 formed thereon. Grooves 8 extending from the top face of the single monocrystalline substrate 1 to the first substrate 3 are formed in the individual intervals between the predetermined segments, whereby the single monocrystalline substrate 1 is divided into the individual predetermined segments, and second substrates 1A are formed (e). By conducting a curved-surface forming process in which the first substrate 3 and the second substrates 1A are pressed from the normal direction, one of the faces of the first substrate is formed to have a predetermined curved surface shape, and the envelope surface interconnecting the predetermined optical structures is formed to have a predetermined curved surface shape (g).
