7. The cushion according to claim 6, characterized in that each of said fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh chambers has a respective opening which can optionally be reclosed and is formed on the outward surface of the corresponding layer.
8. The cushion according to claim 2, characterized in that it comprises an outer edge which is formed by joining said first edges and has first supporting and/or connecting means which comprises first holes for connection to another similar cushion, so that the cushion is modular and can be assembled with other cushions in order to obtain a selected final shape.
9. The cushion according to claim 8, characterized in that it comprises on one side of said outer edge, second holes for the connection of said cushion to a support, and a slot having rounded corners in order to make it easier to carry said cushion by hand.
Description:
CUSHION, PARTICULARLY FOR FURNISHING ACCESSORIES Technical field The present invention relates to a cushion particularly for furnishing accessories.

Background art Many cushions of various shapes and dimensions, used as components or trimmings of furnishing accessories, such as for example sofas and chairs, are currently commercially available.

In particular, conventional cushions comprise a closed or re-closable enclosure which contains soft and absorbent material, such as for example wool, cotton, polyester, goose down or foamed materials (for example polyurethane).

Conventional cushions must be specifically designed and produced, regarding shapes and materials, for each specific purpose and therefore cannot be used in a functionally and aesthetically valid manner for different applications.

Disclosure of the invention The aim of the present invention is therefore to solve the above problems, eliminating the drawbacks of the prior art by providing a cushion which can be used so as to fully exploit its functionality as the specific selected application varies.

An important object is to provide a cushion which can be used effectively in many different furnishing accessories and whose characteristics can be easily and rapidly modified.

Another object is to provide a cushion which is structurally simple and has low manufacturing costs.

These and other objects which will become better apparent hereinafter are achieved by a cushion, particularly for furnishing accessories, which comprises a single body composed of at least two separate superimposed chambers which have at least one opening which can optionally be re-

closed, first means for support and/or connection to another cushion being provided perimetrically to said body.

Brief description of the drawings Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become better apparent from the detailed description of a particular embodiment, illustrated only by way of non-limitative example in the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figures 1 and 2 are, respectively, a front view and a side view of the front face and of a side of the cushion according to the invention ; Figures 3 and 4 are, respectively, a front view and a side view of the rear face and of the other side of the cushion according to the invention; Figure 5 is a sectional enlarged side view of a detail of the cushion according to the invention.

Ways of carrying out the invention With reference to the above figures, the reference numeral 1 designates a cushion, particularly for furnishing accessories, which comprises a single body 2 which is composed, in this embodiment, of a first central chamber designated by the reference numeral 3.

Said first chamber 3 is defined by a first layer and by a second layer, designated by the reference numerals 4a and 4b respectively, which can be made of plastics and are mutually associated, at the respective first edges 5a and Sb, by means for example, of electric welding, thermal bonding, adhesive bonding, or any other suitable system known to the person skilled --' in the art.

In this particular embodiment, the first chamber 3 has a plan shape, which in this embodiment is square, with a lateral cross-section (partially visible in Figure 5) which is substantially rectangular. The chamber 3 has a first face and a second face, designated by the reference numerals 6a and 6b.

A second chamber 7a and a third chamber 7b are provided adjacent to said first face 6a, so as to overlap said first chamber 3, and are arranged side

by side, are not connected and are separate from the first chamber 3.

Said second and third chambers 7a and 7b, advantageously identical to each other, are formed by said first layer 4a and, respectively, by a third layer and a fourth layer, designated by the reference numerals 8a and 8b, which are perimetrically associated with the first layer 4a and have a preferably rectangular shape, so as to almost completely cover the first face 6a.

On the second face 6b, in the opposite position with respect to the second and third chambers, there are, in a position which overlaps said first chamber 3, a fourth chamber, a fifth chamber, a sixth chamber and a seventh chamber, designated by the reference numerals 9a, 9b, 9c and 9d respectively, which are separate from each other and from said first chamber 3.

The fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh chambers, which are conveniently identical to each other, are formed by the second layer 4b and, respectively, by a fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth layer, designated by the reference numerals 10a, 10b, 10c and 10d respectively, and are perimetrically associated with the second layer 4b.

The fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth layers have an advantageously square shape and thus cover almost completely the second face 6b.

Each of the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh chambers 9a, 9b, 9c ånd 9d has a respective opening, generally designated by the reference numeral 11, which can be optionally re-closed and is advantageously provided on the surface that is directed outwards and is formed by the respective layer, made of plastics, 10a, 10b, 10c or 10d.

The outer edge, designated by the reference numeral 12, of the single body 2, provided by joining the first edges 5a and 5b, has first support and/or connection means. The first connection/support means comprises first holes, generally designated by the reference numerals 13, for connection to another similar cushion, so that the cushion is modular and

can be assembled with other cushions in order to obtain a selected final shape.

Advantageously, second holes, designated by the reference numeral 14, are provided on one side of said outer edge 12 and have a larger diameter than the first holes 13, for the connection of the cushion 1 to a support. A slot 15 is also provided and is advantageously rectangular with rounded corners and acts, for example, as a carrying handle.

Operation is therefore as follows: with reference to Figure 1, it should be noted that the various independent chambers can be filled with any gaseous, liquid or solid material and can also act as pockets for carrying objects which can be stored therein through the openings 11.

The first holes 13 can be used for connecting other cushions to one or more of the four sides of the cushion 1. The other cushions are constructively identical or similar to the present cushion, so as to be able to perform the most disparate functions.

It has thus been observed that the invention has achieved the intended aim and objects, a cushion having been provided which can be combined with different furnishing accessories and used in many ways and can also be easily and rapidly modified in its particular characteristics, such as softness, weight, dimensions and intended use.

The cushion according to the invention is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, within the scope of the appended claims.

The materials used, as well as the dimensions that constitute the individual components of the invention, may of course be the most pertinent according to specific requirements.
