Description:
A CUTTING DEVICE CONNECTABLE TO A WORKING MACHINE The invention relates to a cross-cutting device connected to and taking from a working machine driving power for cross-cutting of piles, pillars or other columns driven or mounted in the ground and especially of other material than wood, and the apparatus having a body most suitably mounted in the movable boom of the working machine, and clamping means to grasp the object to be crosscut and a device, as a rotating cross-cutting disc to carry out the cross-cutting.

Previously known as a pile cross-cutting apparatus is for instance from the Japanese patent publication 63-107514, a portable apparatus, where for instance at first around the pile under the cutting spot a ring track is fixed. On the ring track a device furnished with a motor movable by hand and a cross-cutting disc is installed, which is rotated around the pile, while the disc is sinking in the pile. To the motor compressed air is brought as driving energy along piping.

A cross-cutting device transportable by a crane is known from US patent publication 5,289, 816, according to which a cross-cutting device furnished with a rotating circular body is with the crane suspended from a cable and let down to the butt of pile so that the pile is within the ring and in the butt the device breaks off the pile by means of a clamping crusher.

From US patent publication 4,151, 393 an underwater cross-cutting way is known, where with the crane in the vessel the pile is grasped from its upper end and by means of special arms a laser beam cutter has been taken from the vessel under the water close to the sea/lake bottom for cross-pile cut-off.

The disadvantage of the cross-cutting device presented in Japanese patent publication 63- 107514 is that one cannot get the level of cross-cutting close to the ground, and in addition, the crosscut upper end falls anywhere and puts the worker in danger.

In the solution according to US patent publication 5,289, 816 the disadvantage is the cross-cutting of reinforcements in concrete piles, which job a crusher cannot necessarily

carry out. Furthermore, the crosscut pile portion falls to the ground and the said device cannot move it, since the device has no required clamping tools.

The solution according to US patent publication 4,151, 393 is meant for a special case, that is for underwater work, and in the solution one has not been able even to present reliably how a laser beam cutter let down from a vessel can in the bottom under the water be brought to the butt of the pile.

By means of the cross-cutting apparatus of piles or similar as per the invention, the problems in connection with the cross-cutting of the oversize pile portion above ground are solved, and the invention is characterized in that the cross-cutting apparatus is fitted by means clamping means to an auxiliary body movable in regard to the fixing body, whereby the said auxiliary body comprises tools to feed the apparatus that carries out the cross-cutting to the object in the cross-cutting direction and means for bringing the said device closer to and farther from the object to be crosscut, whereby the motions meant for above mentioned tools can be carried out, when the clamping means have hold of the object.

The advantage of the invention is that one person is enough to carry out cross-cutting and, generally he/she is in the cabin of the working machine and thus falling of the crosscut portion on the worker is avoided. Also with the invention falling is totally prevented, because with the apparatus and working machine connected to it the crosscut portion is immediately put aside to a place wanted. By means of the apparatus cross-cutting can be carried quite close to ground surface and the mark of cross-cutting can be made level and good quality surface.

In the following the invention is disclosed with reference to the enclosed drawing, where Fig. 1 shows the pile to be crosscut and the apparatus as per the invention fixed to the boom of a working machine viewed from both sides.

Fig. 2 shows an arrangement for tilting the body part.

Fig. 3 shows an arrangement for tilting the body part viewed from the end.

Figure 1 shows a reinforced concrete pillar 1 driven into the ground with the portion of it, which has to be crosscut, left on the ground. The cross-cutting apparatus in figure 1 is fixed to the outermost boom 2 of a working machine, an excavator for instance. The apparatus comprises a first body 3, to which in this example case by means of arms 10 grasping mean is fixed, formed of two bent clamps 12, which are pressed against pile 1.

There can be even more clamping means 12, whereby a better stability of direction can be achieved. The clamping means 12 are moved by hydraulic cylinders 9. In the body lower end there is a supporting part 4, which on cross-cutting is adjusted to lean against the pile by means of the angle of turning of boom 2. Body 3 is fixed to boom 2 with fulcrum pins 5 and 6 taken through two holes in body 3 to corresponding holes of boom 2.

Body 3 has also another pair of holes 7 and 8, whereby the body can be turned upside down and also be fixed to boom 2 now through holes 7 and 8. This way comes into question, when the pile I oversize portion to be crosscut is so small, that the pile does not reach up to clamping means 12. When body 3 is turned upside down the oversize usually is sufficient to get hold of it.

In the example of figure 1 the apparatus has a body also fixed on the boom opposite side.

In this case the longitudinal second body 17 of the apparatus is from its upper end fixed by means of joint 13 to the boom and body 17 can be turned by means of cylinder 15 connected to fixing part 14 towards boom 2 and away from it, on the other hand also towards the pile and away from it. The other end of cylinder 15 is fixed to the upper part of boom 2.

The other body 17 is telescopically extended by means of cylinder 16 so that for the telescopic part 18 and the cross-cutting apparatus fixed to its end by means of part 19 a vertical motion is achieved. When pile 1 has been grasped by clamping means 12 the cross-cutting spot can still be adjusted more exactly thanks to the movable telescopic arm 18.

When cross-cutting of a pile 1 is started, the motion-guiding body 21 is adjusted at first horizontally and then the feed of cross-cutting device towards the pile is started by means of pressure air cylinder 22. Due to adjusted pressure led to cylinder 22 a feeding power

proper for the purpose is achieved as well as return elasticity for tool 26, if need of such appears. Instead of pressure air cylinder 22 even a hydraulic cylinder with adjusted pressure can be used, and if elasticity is needed, the system can be furnished with a pressure accumulator. Due to motion guides 23 the feed motion towards the pile is in the tool direction, for instance in direction of the level of diamond disc 26. In connection with tool 26 there is tool body 24 and the tool driving motor 25.

It is possible that tool 26 cannot be turned completely horizontal by means of the equipment of figure 1, since the possibility of tilting sideways is missing. In order to eliminate this lack, between body part 21 and, for instance, part 19 an extra joint and a turning actuator can be mounted, whereby tilting sideways can, if necessary, be adjusted as wanted. Figures 2 and 3 show such an extra joint 30, connecting piece 29 and actuator 28.

As cross-cutting means devices cutting reinforced concrete pillars, as diamond discs, stone saws, water jet cutters and laser beam cutters can be used. A concrete pile generally contains reinforcements of steel in pile direction, which have to be cut-off, and these influence the choice of tool. If the pile is a steel pile, the use of a steel cutting disc is possible, and likewise also a flame device is possible.

After cross-cutting with the joint operation of the apparatus and the working machine the crosscut portion of pile lean be lifted and moved away within the limits of the working machine reach.
