A cutting device that is capable of a sufficiently flat cutting plane is provided. One embodiment of this cutting device is provided with: an annular saw band (12); a saw-band-driving unit (20) that causes the saw band (12) to circulate while forming a section (12c) that is for cutting a columnar work (70) and that is a section at which the saw band (12) moves linearly; a work-holding section (50) that is capable of holding the work (70) in a manner so that a normal line to the side surface (12s) of the saw band (12) at the section (12c) is parallel to the axial direction of the work (70); and a moving section (60) for cutting that causes the work-holding section (50) relatively to approach the blade (12b) of the saw band (12) at the section (12c). The work-holding section (50) has a plurality of clamps (52) that clamp the outer peripheral surface (70s) of the work (70), and the clamps (52) are disposed spaced with respect to each other in a direction parallel to the normal line to the side surface (12s) of the saw band (12) at the section (12c).
