Abstract:
This cutting insert has, as cutting edges, arc-shaped cutting edges convex toward the tip peripheral side thereof. A chisel part is formed on an intersecting ridge portion between flank faces of a pair of arc-shaped cutting edges, a round honing face is formed on the tip of each arc-shaped cutting edge within a radial angle range of at least 30 degrees or less, the round honing face has a curvature radius of 20-40 µm in a cross-section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the arc-shaped cutting edges, and the tip part of the arc-shaped cutting edge and a chisel edge of the chisel part form therebetween a chisel angle of 150-170 degrees in a front view of the insert.
