Abstract:
This cutting insert is provided with a polygonal plate-shaped insert main body (11) having two polygonal surfaces (12) of which when one is defined as a rake face, the other is defined as a seating face, a side surface (13) in which a flank (14) is formed, and a cutting edge (15) formed in an intersecting ridge line portion of the rake face and the flank (14), wherein: the insert main body (11) includes an attachment hole (16) centered around an insert centerline L passing through the centers of the two polygonal surfaces 12, and has a rotationally symmetrical shape with respect to the insert centerline L and a front-rear inversion symmetrical shape with respect to the two polygonal surfaces 12; the cutting edge (15) is provided with a main cutting edge (15b) extending from one end of a corner blade (15a) positioned in a corner portion of each polygonal surface (12); and in opening portions of the attachment hole (16) in the two polygonal surfaces (12), a plurality of protruding portions (18) which project out with respect to a boss surface (12a) around the opening portion of the attachment hole (16) are formed spaced apart in the circumferential direction in an inner circumferential side region of the main cutting edge (15b).
