Abstract:
Provided is a cutting insert endowed with high strength around a threaded hole in the bottom surface while having an inclined surface on the bottom surface. An attachment hole is formed in this cutting insert 1 so as to pass between a first end surface 2 and a second end surface 3, and cutting edges 8, 9, 10 are formed on the intersecting ridge lines of the first end surface 2 and a peripheral side surface 4. The second end surface 3 has an inclined portion 3a, and the inclined portion 3a is inclined so as to be progressively farther away from a hypothetical plane P1 side in the direction from the peripheral side surface 4 side toward the axial line O side, where the hypothetical plane P1 is defined as being at an approximate right angle to an axial line O and passing through any one point on the cutting edges 8, 9, 10. A protruding portion 5b that protrudes in the direction of the axial line O is formed in the area of the inclined portion 3a that is peripheral to the attachment hole 5.
