Abstract:
This cutting insert (30) is mounted on an insert mounting seat (4), with its end part (31t) facing the end side in the direction of a center axis (O). The insert mounting seat (4) is formed on the end outer periphery of a tool body (2) that is rotated around the center axis (O). The cutting insert (30) is provided with an insert body (31) having a polygonal plate shape, a cutting blade (7), and thinned parts (60, 160, 260). The cutting blade (7) is provided at a corner part of the end part (31t) on one polygonal surface (31f) of the insert body (31), and has a rake surface (32) on the polygonal surface (31f). The thinned parts (60, 160, 260) are formed at the end part (31t) of the insert body (31) as recesses extending in the thickness direction of the insert body (31) from the polygonal surface (31f, 31g).
