Abstract:
This cutting insert has a main body section and a cutting section positioned further on the tip side than the main body section. The cutting section comprises: a front blade provided at the line of intersection between an upper surface and a side surface: a recessed section provided from the front blade towards the main body section; and a pair of raised sections provided so as to be mutually facing and having the recessed section sandwiched therebetween. The pair of raised sections comprises a first raised section and a second raised section positioned upon the first raised section. The first raised section has a first sloping surface that approaches the other out of the pair of raised sections and slopes upwards as said first sloping surface extends from the tip side towards the rear end side. The second raised section has an outer circumference on the tip side, as viewed from above, that has a curved convex shape.
