Abstract:
The cutting insert according to an embodiment is provided with a cutting edge having, in order, an end cutting edge, a first main cutting edge and a second cutting edge. The height of the end cutting edge from an imaginary plane that is orthogonal to the central axis of the through hole is constant. In side view, the height of the first main cutting edge from the imaginary plane increases with increasing distance from the one end that connects to the end cutting edge. In side view, the height of the second main cutting edge from the imaginary plane decreases with increasing distance from the one end that connects with the first main cutting edge. The angle of inclination of an imaginary line connecting the two ends of the second main cutting edge with respect to the imaginary plane in side view is larger than the angle of inclination of an imaginary line connecting the two ends of the first main cutting edge with respect to the imaginary plane in side view.
