Abstract:
A cutting insert according to an embodiment has a main body section and a cutting section that is located on the tip side of the main body section. The cutting section has a front cutting edge that is disposed on a ridgeline where a top surface and a first side surface intersect and side cutting edges that are disposed on ridgelines where the top surface and second side surfaces intersect and that tilt more upward with increasing distance from the front cutting edge. Each side cutting edge has a first portion and a second portion that is located rearward of the first portion, and the second portion has a larger tilt angle with respect to a bottom surface than the tilt angle of the first portion with respect to the bottom surface.
