A cutting insert according to one embodiment of the present invention has a first surface, a second surface positioned on the opposite side to the first surface, a third surface positioned between the first surface and the second surface, and a cutting blade positioned on at least part of a ridgeline where the first surface and the third surface meet. The first surface comprises a first region that is inclined so as to get nearer to the second surface as the distance from the cutting blade increases. When, viewing the first surface from the front, a first virtual line orthogonal to the cutting blade has been set, Rz1a is greater than Rz1b, where Rz1a is the ten-point average roughness of the first region in the direction along the first virtual line, and Rz1b is the ten-point average roughness of the first region in the direction along the cutting blade.
