Abstract:
A cutting insert is provided. This cutting insert is provided with: an opposite first end surface (20) and second end surface (30); a peripheral surface (40) connecting these; at least one first cutting blade (28) formed along the area of intersection between the first end surface and the peripheral surface; and at least one second cutting blade (38) formed along the area of intersection between the second end surface and the peripheral surface and having a different shape than that of the first cutting blade. The first end surface (20) has an inner surface (25) which is separated from the peripheral surface and which extends around the insert axis, which extends in the insert thickness direction; relative to the first cutting blade (28), the inner surface (25) of the first end surface is positioned on the side of the second end surface (30) in the insert thickness direction. The inner peripheral surface can be formed to function as a seating surface.
