Abstract:

A cutting insert (1) has: a first end face (2) and a second end face (3) that are opposite each other; a surrounding side surface (4) that extends so as to connect the first end face (2) and the second end face (3); a first cutting edge (5a) disposed at the intersection ridge between the first end face (2) and the surrounding side surface (4); and a second cutting edge (5b) disposed at the intersection ridge between the second end face (3) and the surrounding side surface (4). The surrounding side surface (4) has a first flank (4a1) that connects to the first cutting edge (5a) and a middle surrounding side surface part (4b) that is disposed closer to the second end face (3) than the first flank (4a1). The first flank (4a1) extends in a direction perpendicular to the first end face (2). The middle surrounding side surface part (4b) protrudes outward from the first flank (4a1).
