Abstract:
The cutting insert according to the present disclosure is provided with: a substrate having a first face and second face adjoining the first face; and a coating layer located on a surface of the substrate. The coating layer is provided with a first layer containing α-type aluminum oxide, and the first layer is provided with a first region located above the first face of the substrate and a second region located above the second face of the substrate. When a first tilt angle is defined to be an angle formed by a normal to a (001) face, that is, a crystal face of the α-type aluminum oxide in the first layer, and a normal to the surface of the substrate, the peak in the distribution of first tilt angles in the first region is located on the lower angle side relative to the peak in the distribution of first tilt angles in the second region.
