This cutting insert includes an upper surface, a lower surface, a front end surface, a first side surface, a second side surface, a front cutting edge, a first lateral cutting edge, and a second lateral cutting edge. The upper surface includes a front rake surface, a first lateral rake surface, and a breaker protrusion. The first lateral cutting edge has an inclined section that approaches the lower surface as the distance from the front cutting edge increases. The breaker protrusion has a first area, a second area, and a third area. When viewed in a side surface view from the side of the first side surface, the first area is positioned further away from the lower surface than the inclined section. The second area is closer to the front cutting edge than the first area and is positioned closer to the lower surface than the inclined section. The third area is further away from the front cutting edge than the first area and is positioned closer to the lower surface than the inclined section.
