Abstract:

This cutting insert can be attached to a body. The cutting insert comprises: an upper surface; a bottom surface being a surface opposite the upper surface; side surfaces continuous with the upper surface and the bottom surface; and cutting edges formed on the ridgeline of the upper surface and the side surfaces. The side surfaces have a first surface disposed adjacent to the cutting edge and a second surface continuous with the first surface. In a cross-sectional view parallel to the bottom surface, the second surface has a first position and a second position that abut the body when attached to the body. An imaginary straight line passing through the first position and the second position is separated from the second surface between the first position and the second position.
