Abstract:
 A cutting method for manufacturing magnet pieces constituting a field pole magnet provided in a rotating electric machine by cutting a permanent magnet, the cutting method comprising: a step for cutting a magnet into a post-cutting magnet and a magnet piece smaller than the post-cutting magnet by, while the magnet is supported from below at two fulcrum points, pressing the magnet downward from above at a cutting position between the two fulcrum points; and a step for applying, to the magnet piece during cutting, a reverse moment to the moment acting on the magnet due to pressing the magnet.
