Abstract:
Provided is a durable cutting tap with which it is less likely that a cutting chip would wind onto the tap with respect to the cutting tap and that the cutting tap would suffer breakage caused by a chip winding onto the tap during cutting. A high-friction layer (52) where the friction against chips is greater than the friction of a rake face is provided to a cutting discharge groove (9) which is contacted by cutting chips immediately after cutting of a cutting tap (50), and such a high-friction layer is not provided to a threaded portion (8). The high-friction layer (52) may be formed, for example, by electrodeposition-plating or electroless plating of CBN particles, ceramic particles, SiC particles, diamond particles, or the like.
