Abstract:

Breakage of a boundary portion of a cutting tip which causes problems in cutting of a difficult-to-cut material under the condition that the depth of cut exceeds, for example, 0.3 mm is reduced. The cutting tip is provided with a cutting surface (5) which is disposed between two side surfaces (4) forming a corner section and which removes a corner. A ridge line (9) serving as the main cutting edge is formed between the cutting surface (5) and an upper surface (2). The ridge line (9) is tilted at an angle which enables the side cutting edge angle (α) of not less than 60º but not greater than 90º to be set with a cutting tip (1) attached to the holder of a turning tool.
