Abstract:

Provided is a base for a cutting tool, which is disposed between a cutting insert and a holder and secured to the holder. The cutting insert includes a flank and a rake face continuing from the flank. A ridgeline between the flank and the rake face forms a cutting edge. The cutting edge includes an arc-shaped part. The base for the cutting tool is provided with a coolant supply path for injecting coolant supplied from the holder to the arc-shaped part. The coolant supply path has an introduction port for introducing the coolant from the holder to the coolant supply path, and an injection port for the arc-shaped part that injects the coolant to the arc-shaped part. The injection port for the arc-shaped part has a shape that curves along the arc-shaped part. The distance between the arc-shaped part and the injection port for the arc-shaped part is 2.2-8.1 mm inclusive.
