Abstract:
A cutting tool such as a cutting insert (1) provided with a base (5) and a DLC layer (6) which contains diamond-like carbon and is positioned on the surface of the base (5), the DLC layer (6) having a first region (7) containing argon in a ratio of 0.1% by mass to 1% by mass, the cutting tool having good bonding properties between the base (5) and the DLC layer (6) and high deposition resistance with respect to the work material.
