Abstract:

The cutting tool according to an embodiment of the present invention is a cutting tool for cutting rotationally symmetric surfaces on rotating workpieces. The cutting comprises a step for feeding the cutting tool in a direction that is inclined with respect to the rotational axis line of the rotationally symmetric surface while bringing the cutting tool into contact with the rotationally symmetric surface. In the cutting tool-feeding step, the point of contact of the cutting tool with the rotationally symmetric surface moves as the cutting tool is fed. The cutting tool is provided with cutting face, a flank, and a cutting edge that connects the cutting face to the flank. The shape of the cutting edge as seen from the flank comprises at least one arc and the radius of curvature of the arc is 100 mm to 500 mm.
