Abstract:
An end mill (1) includes a plurality of peripheral cutting edges (6) formed in a helical shape on a periphery of a tool body (2); swarf discharge grooves (5) formed in front of the peripheral cutting edges (6) in a rotational direction; and a plurality of end cutting edges formed on a leading end surface (4) of the tool body (2) continuous with the peripheral cutting edges (6). The end cutting edges each include a first cutting edge (10) extending from or near to a central axis (O) of the leading end surface (4) toward the peripheral cutting edge and a second cutting edge (12) formed on a peripheral side. The first cutting edge (10) is located further down to a base end side of the tool body (2) than the second cutting edge (12). This can prevent damage to the end cutting edges by preventing swarf clogging when working.
