Abstract:
A horning method for a cylinder liner formed by impregnating a ferrous porous sintered body with an Al alloy from the outer circumferential side of the sintered body. The method is characterized by consisting of the first grinding step of vertically traveling a first grinding wheel resulting from solidification of diamond abrasive grains with a first coarseness, while rotating the same, along the axial direction of the cylinder liner and the second grinding step of vertically traveling a second grinding wheel resulting from solidification of cubical crystal boron nitride (CBN) abrasive grains being finer than the first coarseness, while rotating the same, along the axial direction of the cylinder liner.Accordingly, even when the cylinder is produced by casting a ferrous porous sintered body in an Al alloy, there can be obtained a cylinder liner that is favorable in surface properties and has crosshatch streaks.
