Abstract:
Provided is a cylinder block produced by casting. The cylinder block comprises: a circular cylindrical, cylinder side wall section having a coating layer consisting of low carbon steel, the coating layer being provided on the inner periphery of the cylinder side wall section, the inner periphery forming the cylinder bore; a circular cylindrical, closed-bottom water jacket extending along the outer periphery of the cylinder side wall section; an outer wall section located outside the water jacket; and a rib passing through a part of the bottom of the water jacket from the outer wall section toward the cylinder side wall section. The width of the rib is greater than or equal to the wall thickness of the cylinder side wall section.
