Abstract:
According to the present invention, an electrorheological fluid as a working fluid 2 is filled into a shock absorber. In the shock absorber 1, a potential difference is generated inside an electrode passage 19, and a generated damping force is controlled by changing the viscosity of the electrorheological fluid flowing in the electrode passage 19. A plurality of partition walls 20 are provided in the electrode passage 19 formed between an inner cylinder 3 and an electrode cylinder 18. Accordingly, a plurality of spiral flow passages 24 are formed in the electrode passage 19. In this case, a flow passage cross-sectional area changing section is provided in the flow passages 24, wherein the cross-sectional area of the flow passages 24 on the side (middle region F) spaced apart from an inlet 24A1 becomes greater than that on at least the side (inflow region E) of the inlet 24A1 of the flow passages 24 on an extension side.
