Abstract:

Provided is a gasket for use in a cylindrical battery that allows for sufficient internal volume within the battery while not diminishing the ability thereof to absorb radial stress when sealing the battery. A sealing gasket (23) is provided with a boss part (32) that comprises a center hole (31) through which a negative electrode collector (22) is inserted, a canister contact part (33) that is fixed in place in contact with a positive electrode canister (11), a disc-shaped part (34) that is provided in order to connect the boss part (32) and the canister contact part (33), and a stress damping part (37) that is provided in the middle of the disc-shaped part (34). The stress damping part (37) has a first bent part (37a) and a second bent part (37b), which are bent at acute angles, and is located closer to the center of the positive electrode canister (11) than a positive electrode mixture (12) when installed onto the positive electrode canister (11).
