Abstract:
The cylindrical battery according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an electrode body where a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate are rolled with a separator therebetween; an electrolytic solution; an external cover can having the shape of a bottomed cylinder; and a sealing body fixed by crimping at the opening of the external cover can with a gasket therebetween. The sealing body includes at least a valve body; a metal plate disposed more to the inner side of the battery than the valve body and having a connecting portion to the valve body; and a circular insulation member intercalated between the outer perimeter potion of the valve body and the outer perimeter potion of the metal plate. The metal plate has a groove-shaped thin portion provided in the surrounding of the connecting portion. The thin portion comprises, disposed at an inner peripheral side and an outer peripheral side in a cross section orthogonal to the length direction of the thin portion, straight portions whereof the respective angles of inclination relative to the normal of the metal plate are different from one another.
