Abstract:
A cylindrical battery provided with: an electrode group; an electrolyte; a battery can housing the electrode group and the electrolyte; and a sealing body for sealing an opening of the battery can. The sealing body is provided with a valve body, a metal plate disposed farther towards the inside of the battery than the valve body, and an annular insulating member interposed between the valve body and the metal plate. The valve body and the metal plate are connected to each other at the respective center sections. The valve body has an annular thin-walled part capable of deforming when the internal pressure of the battery rises. The metal plate and the insulating member have holes that communicate with each other. The insulating member has a portion P1 covering the valve body-side surface of the metal plate, and a portion P2 which is provided in continuation from the portion P1 and which covers the side surface of the hole in the metal plate.
