Abstract:
The cylindrical linear motor (M1) according to the present invention is provided with: an armature (A) that has a plurality of cores (2A), (2B) each having a cylindrical yoke (3) and a plurality of teeth (41, 42) provided to the outer circumference of the yoke (3), and that has a winding (5) fitted in slots (43) between the respective teeth (41, 42); and a field coil (6) in which the armature (A) is inserted medially in a manner freely movable in the axial direction so that N poles and S poles are arranged alternately in the axial direction. When the teeth disposed at both ends of each core (2A), (2B) are defined as terminal teeth (41), and the teeth other than the terminal teeth (41) are defined as intermediate teeth (42), the terminal teeth (41) each have an outer peripheral width (W) represented by W=y/2+x, where W is the outer peripheral width of a single terminal tooth (41), y is the outer peripheral width of a single intermediate tooth (42), and x is a positive value. The interval (K) between adjacent cores (2A), (2B) is determined on the basis of the value of x.
