Abstract:
This cylindrical secondary battery comprises: a battery case having a bottomed cylindrical shape and an opening; an electrode group and an electrolyte enclosed in the battery case; and a sealing member that closes the opening of the battery case. The electrode group comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The positive electrode and the negative electrode are formed by winding with the separator in-between. The negative electrode comprises a negative electrode collector and a negative electrode mixture layer formed on at least one main surface of the negative electrode collector. The negative electrode mixture layer has a non-facing region that does not face the positive electrode. The density of the negative electrode mixture layer is 1.25 to 1.43 g/cm3. The ratio of the full length of the non-facing region with respect to the full length of the negative electrode mixture layer is 0.09 or larger, and the internal diameter of a hollow section of the electrode group is 2.0 mm or smaller. With this invention, it is possible to provide a small-sized cylindrical battery having superior charging/discharging cycle characteristics accompanied by rapid charging.
