Abstract:
The purpose of the invention is to provide a cylindrical vibration damping device with a novel structure with which, even if cracking occurs on a rubber buffer layer formed integrally with a main rubber elastic body, excellent durability of the main rubber elastic body can be maintained. A rubber buffer layer 48 formed integrally with a main rubber elastic body 16 is fixed to the surface of each of a pair of stopper projections 28, 28 that are provided on an inner shaft member 12 and project to each side in a first direction 26 orthogonal to the axis. The inner circumferential face of an outer cylinder member 18 is provided with a stopper recess 60 which receives each of the pair of stopper projections 28, 28 on an inner side thereof. The walls of the stopper recess 60 are disposed so as to face the corresponding stopper projection 28 in the axial direction 19 as well as the first direction 26 and second direction 30 orthogonal to the axis. In this manner, an axial direction stopper 86, a first direction stopper 88, and a second direction stopper 90 are configured, which serve to limit the amount of relative displacement of the inner shaft member 12 and the outer cylinder member 18 by way of abutment between the walls of the stopper recess 60 and the stopper projection 28.
