Abstract:
Disclosed is a cytoplasmic male sterile Brassica rapa plant, which has a growth ability comparable to a Brassica rapa plant having normal cytoplasm, or a progeny thereof. A conventional cytoplasmic male sterile Brassica rapa plant suffers from the problem of deterioration in growth ability caused by insufficient compatibility between nuclear and mitochondrial genomes, compared to a B. rapa plant having normal cytoplasm. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a cytoplasmic male sterile B. rapa plant having an improved growth ability can be provided by solving the problem of deterioration in growth ability that is observed in the conventional cytoplasmic male sterile B. rapa plant.
