Abstract:
A damper is provided with: an outer cylinder (1) having an opening end (1a); a piston rod (2) inserted in the outer cylinder (1) so as to be capable of moving into and out of the outer cylinder (1); a seal member (12) for sealing the opening end (1a) of the outer cylinder (1); a cylindrical cover (3) for covering both the protrusion section of the piston rod (2) and the opening end (1a) of the outer cylinder (1), the protrusion section of the piston rod (2) protruding from the seal member (12); and a guide ring (4) provided either on the outer periphery of the opening end (1a) of the outer cylinder (1) or on the outer periphery of the seal member (12) and having an outer periphery facing the inner periphery of the cover (3). The guide ring (4) is provided with cutouts (4b) formed in the outer periphery of the guide ring (4) at intervals in the circumferential direction.
