Title:
DAMPING ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2014/103884
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
An Fe-Mn-(Cr,Ni)-Si based damping alloy which contains Cr and/or Ni and may further contain Al, characterized by: containing, as composition components, 5 to 28 mass% of Mn, 0 to 15 mass% of Cr, 0 to less than 15 mass% of Ni, more than 0 to less than 6.5 mass% of Si, and 0 to less than 3 mass% of Al with the balance being Fe and unavoidable impurities; and satisfying the relationships: [%Ni]+0.5[%Mn] > 0.75[%Cr]+1.125[%Si]+2[%Al]; and 37 < [%Mn]+[%Cr]+2[%Ni]+5[%Al] < 45 (wherein [%Ni], [%Mn], [%Cr], [%Si] and [%Al] represent the contents (mass%) of Ni, Mn, Cr, Si and Al respectively). Thus, a mass-producible Fe-Mn-(Cr,Ni)-Si based alloy for an elastoplastic damper can be provided, said alloy exhibiting a lowered offset yield strength, a lowered stress amplitude after repeated tension and compression deformation, and an increased number of cycles to fracture, and being usable without maintenance even after a long-period earthquake ground motion.
