Abstract:
Provided are a damping control device and a damping control method for controlling vibration damping in a vehicle. Vehicle body vibration damping control is performed with adaptive damping mode switching in response the situation inside the vehicle, the driving situation, and the surrounding environment, and other vehicle-related conditions, while taking into account energy consumption (such as fuel consumption and battery consumption). More specifically, the situation inside the vehicle, the driving situation, and the surrounding environment are constantly monitored, and if it is determined that the situation is one in which damping does not have to be as strong as it is currently, the damping mode is switched to a weaker one. If, on the contrary, it is determined that stronger damping is necessary, the damping mode is switched to a stronger one.
