Abstract:
A data processing apparatus calculates a plurality of pruning measures (PM) from the amount of feature (CV) of the inputted test data (TD), plots pruning measures (PM) onto a threshold value space (SS) to set a plurality of isopycnic surfaces (EC), and generates a threshold-value curved surface (SC) that has a portion of one isopycnic surface (EC) as a portion thereof and wherein at least one of the plurality of pruning measures (PM) increases when at least one of the pruning measures (PM) decreases. Further, the data processing apparatus generates a hypothesis curved surface (HC) of the subject data (CD) on the threshold value space (SS), and implements pruning on a plurality of hypotheses of the subject data (CD), assuming the position at which the hypothesis curved surface (HC) intersects the threshold value curved surface (SC) is a pruning threshold value (PS). As a result, the data processing apparatus has either a higher recognition speed and/or a higher recognition precision than conventional data processing apparatuses.
