The present invention provides a data processing method and apparatus, applicable to a door viewer device. The method comprises: obtaining an audio and video data stream acquired by a camera unit on the basis of a trigger condition; separately storing the audio and video data stream in an internal memory and a buffer memory, and sending data uploading request information to a server; if a data uploading instruction sent by the server is received, uploading the recorded audio and video data stored in the buffer memory to the server; checking whether uploading of the recorded audio and video data is completed; and if the uploading of the recorded audio and video data is completed, deleting the same recorded audio and video data in the internal memory as the recorded audio and video data uploaded to the server, wherein the recorded audio and video data in the server can be requested by the user for viewing. The technical solution can reduce the number of times a door viewer device is woken up when a user views recorded audio and video data, and reduce the working time of the door viewer device, thereby reducing the power consumption of the door viewer device.
