Abstract:
The present application discloses a data transmission method and an apparatus, for resolving the issue of the prior art in which an air interface overhead is excessive during data transmission. The method of the present application comprises: a sending apparatus generating a data transmission session management NAS message comprising transmission data, wherein the data transmission session management NAS message is a session management NAS message having a shortened protocol header or a session management NAS message not comprising a protocol header; and the sending apparatus sending the data transmission session management NAS message and a PDU session identifier to a receiving apparatus. The data transmission session management NAS message of the transmission data is a session management NAS message having a shortened protocol header or a session management NAS message not comprising a protocol header, so as to reduce the overhead of the protocol header in the session management NAS message; and thus reduce air interface overhead during data transmission.
