Disclosed in an embodiment of the present invention are a data transmission method, a forwarding plane device, and a centralized controller. The method comprises: receiving a path constructing request sent by a local communication device, wherein the path constructing request carries identifications of the local communication device and a peer communication device; constructing a fast transmission path between the local communication device and the peer communication device according to the path constructing request; and sending the fast transmission path to the local communication device and the peer communication device, so that a data packet is transmitted between the local communication device and the peer communication device through the fast transmission path. In the above method, by constructing a fast transmission path from the local communication device to the peer communication device, the data transmission does not need routing calculation through the centralized controller again, and instead, is quickly forwarded directly through the forwarding plane device and reaches the destination.
