Abstract:
A debris removal satellite (300) comprising a capture device (135), a chemically-propelled thruster (341), and a propellant tank (342) that stores chemical fuel. A solar cell paddle (371) can be operated in an orbit having a higher orbital altitude than a congested orbit region that is congested with a plurality of satellites forming a satellite constellation. The debris removal satellite (300) is prepared in advance as a launch satellite and, if a debris incursion warning that warns of the incursion of debris into the congested orbit region is issued: propellant is filled into the propellant tank; and the debris removal satellite (300) is launched by a rocket prepared as a launching rocket. The debris removal satellite (300): captures debris to be captured, at higher orbital altitudes than the congested orbit region; causes a propulsion device (134) to operate in a state in which the debris to be captured has been captured; and stops incursion of debris to be captured into the congested orbit region.
