Abstract:
This deceleration device is provided with: an input-side rotating member having an input plate in which a first ball-engaging groove is formed; an output-side rotating member disposed coaxially with respect to a rotating shaft 7 of the input-side rotating member, the output-side rotating member having an output plate in which a second ball-engaging groove is formed; a plurality of balls that engage in the ball-engaging grooves of the axially-opposing input plate and output plate; and a holder having a plurality of pockets for holding the balls so as to enable the balls to move in a radial direction. The holder is incapable of rotating relative to the rotating shaft, and rotation of the input-side rotating member is decelerated and transmitted to the output-side rotating member via the balls engaged in the ball-engaging grooves. A track center line of the second ball-engaging groove is formed in a wave-like curve, and the wave-like curve has a shape such that the balls engaged in the first ball-engaging groove also engage in the second ball-engaging groove when the input-side rotating member 2 is at any desired rotational angle θ and the output-side rotating member is at a rotational angle iθ, where i denotes the deceleration ratio of the deceleration device.
