Abstract:
The present invention prevents deterioration in convergence performance and operational stability when updating a coefficient due to an increase in constraint length, thereby improving decoding performance. A decoding device according to the present invention comprises: an adaptive equalizer for implementing adaptive equalization; an adaptive maximum-likelihood decoder for causing an identification point in maximum-likelihood decoding to adaptively follow the characteristics of an input signal; a target waveform generation unit for generating an equalized target waveform for the adaptive equalization implemented by the adaptive equalizer with a partial response coefficient convolved with a decoded value; an error signal generation unit for generating an error signal between the equalized target waveform and an equalized signal as an equalized error signal; and a coefficient update unit for updating a partial response coefficient the target waveform generation unit uses for generating the equalized target waveform using the least squares method, which minimizes the correlation between the decoded value and the equalized error signal.
